My '03 gsx-r1000 needs it first bath (since I've bought it two weeks ago). What do you all recommend as a cleaning product/s? My owner's manual recommends car wash soap, then a car wax.

How dirty is it? You can clean it up very well with furniture polish, or so Scud said. If it's real dirty a mild soap and an easy wash will do. try to spray your electronics as little as possible

Lemon scent joy, warm water and a nice soft sponge. I use a little mc blower to dry it, then hand wax with some S100 (awesome stuff), then hit the black plastic parts with finish 2000!:woot:

Put it into the bath tub and let have play time for about a half hour. That should work out pretty well.

Seriously, If it just needs a little cleaning Honda spray polish works awesome. Spray on and wipe off. Clean as a whistle.

i pretty much only chemically clean my bike (it rarely gets dirty enough for degreaser, cleaned after each ride) with spray polish. Ive used all kinds from Honda, Plexxus, Motorex and others....the Honda polish works good (but it slows your bike down). The best all around ive found is at Cyclegear, its their store brand "spray polish" and it works VERY VERY well for cleaning bugs, road tar, grease and dirt...also leaves nice shine as good as any wax...just keep plenty of rags and change often to avoid scratching....

Now how does honda polish slow your bike down??

But adding a FSB sticker on a nice clean bike will counter the Honduh polish slow down and actually increase the power by 1000%

It seems Honda Polish is the overwelming favorite. Though the lemon sent Joy and the s100 sounds interesting. Is the Finish 2000 like Armor-all? I've never used it.

Yes the finish 2000 is similar to armour all, but in my opion shines better and last longer. Just don't put any on the seat!

I ended up using Eagle one wash and Eagle Nanowax. They did an awesome job. The bike had some small scratches in the clear coat. They are all gone now. The paint and powdercoat shine so well they look wet. A little armor all on the seat and plasic bits and the GXSR looks brand new!!!!:banana1:
