Actually, even more impressive to me is Biaggi starting 2nd on the all new Aprilia. Well done Max.

Wow... Does anyone know the scoring for World Superbike? Do they get points for Super pole, laps led or anything like that?

You know the last coulpe years I've wondered if it was the bike or the riders guess it was the riders

That's awesome for Ben!

Problem is, 12 riders are less then a second behind him, Max right next to him is not a good thing in my mind, I wouldn't want that fuck any where near me on the track!

Texan WSBK rookie Ben Spies on his Yamaha YZF R1 took his first Superpole win of the season during the new Superpole formula session at Phillip Island in Australia, also smashing the lap record to that was held by Troy Bayliss - by four tenths of a second with his best time of 1′31.069

Max Biaggi scored second place and his best ever performance in Superpole, on the brand new Aprilia RSV4, with the Italian manufacturer from Noale returning to Superbike after a seven-year break.

The front row of the grid was completed by Britain’s Jonathan Rea (Hannspree Ten Kate Honda) and Czech riderJakub Smrz of was the top Ducati rider on a private Guandalini.

Not to knock Spies (I'm a vocal proponent of his considerable skills) but that IS an all new R1 he's riding, WITH a totally new engine, a different firing order than what we're used to. It's quite possibly BOTH the riders AND the bikes. I'm glad to see him on pole and I'm glad the restof the field is so close. This is why WORLD SBK is so much better than AMA SBK (a little thing called competition). :woot: When is the race on TV?
